I think it'll be a foodie restaurant.  Now who wants to go?  ;D

On a different note, congrats to Kevin for being nominated as a semi-finalist for a James Beard Award.  Someone must think he can cook... Oh right, the James Beard Foundation.

Finding offense where none is intended is a form of selfishness.

When facts change, I change my mind.  What do you do?

Let's give him a chance to get open and put food on the table before you go too "I hate it" on his enterprise please?  Or do you hate it already?

What I hate is his "We don't have any REAL barbecue restaurants in this city, so I have to do it myself, because everyone else is FAKE" attitude.  Perhaps you should ring up the folks at Fox Bros. and ask them how they feel about what Kevin thinks of them.

As far as his food goes at his new restaurant, I can't hate it because I haven't tried it.  That said, his showcasing boiled cabbage and potatoes is the polar opposite of impressive.  I ate stuff like hundreds of times growing up, the only difference was that it was served on cheap plates and cost pennies.

--EDIT--

I took out my more harsh comments because I admit I'm taking this a bit personally, and I shouldn't.  I really, really want Kevin to succeed.  I got excited by what I saw on Top Chef.  I felt very proud that a chef from the South was going so far and doing so well by taking Southern food to a new level.  When Kevin, or any Southern chef, serves Morrison's on fancy plates then I am really, really bummed.  Kevin is better than that.

I was a bit set back at the comment about BBQ in Atlanta myself - not sure where he was going with that. He's an extremely talented chef, but there are several spots in Metro ATL that do a pretty good job on pig and beef (and chicken). Hope he was either misquoted, or wasn't thinking about what he was saying.

Loudry,

If your is so great, which I don't doubt it is, open your own place and I will be pleased to partake.

Bring it on bother, at least give him a chance.
It must be the carney connection

Sycamore,

I don't think it's reasonable to ask people to open their own restaurants before they are permitted to express an opinion on food.

Bring it on bother, at least give him a chance.
