Update as I go along building a message board for you.

So with our links to restaurants, should I allow guests to see this board?   I had thought that if they logged in they could get the good stuff, but not if they signed on as guests.. 

What do you think folks?

If they can't see that it's there, how will they know there is an incentive for them to register and log in?

I do think that it would be nice to encourage visitors to register, whether they end up posting or not, because then we can get a good idea of how many people use this board on a regular basis. What's the best way to encourage this?

We could do a tease somewhere?  perhaps on the Posting Guidlines?    I haven't given this much thought, that's why I threw it open to discussion...

some websites allow you to load so many pages without signing in before giving you a login screen and saying to login, create an account, or begone...

not sure if the smf has any such thing.

not sure that I'm in favor of that kind of approach, got nothing against lurkers.  not sure we're going to get too much out of forcing people to sign up if they're not interested in participating.

This is a good idea, because then they'll have to tell us where they live so we can bring them the candy. Then, you can create a distraction while I plant the webcams. . .

Ok, question for 'ya Mike... and I'm not sure if this is user error or something intentional on your side:

There are some threads that are "pinned", such as the coming soon thread.  Have I pinned it, if so how do I unpin it?  I've seen a couple threads pinned and not sure I understand the reason.

Just to keep them at the top...  if they are confusing or should not be pinned we can undo them..   

I pinned one by accident a while back and Jason pointed it out.  I "unpinned it"..

Sure, I think that's a good idea for that one.  Another I had seen didn't make as much sense.

Mostly trying to sound if it was intentional... sounds like it was.

It has taken a while, other things getting in the way of me deciding which tag line to use among the many that we received.

This is it for now.   It is on the new business cards so it will be what we/I use for now..

Brian has added a Gallery for pictures, and a Links section if you want to include links that you think are appropriate.  They will have to be approved before they are visible on the board (the links)...

This is just about MY pictures that have disappeared from the site...

My FTP hosting company lost a series of hard-drives and are rebuilding them from mirrored images as we speak. 

Thank goodness the whole site was not affected, and only made me (and perhaps a few of you) pull their hair out..
