I really like this guy and will hate to see the show go, I have several episodes on DVD so I can recapture a few of his recipes when need be.

I had read that he renewed his contract for a number of years and the article mentions this.  I would hope it's not just for more Iron Chef shows...

He made the announcement a few days ago on his brand new Twitter account. Interestingly, when you go there now, those posts have been removed. Guess Big Brother network wasn't happy he jumped the gun with the news?

He was the last great hope for Food Network. His was the only FN show I ever recommended to new cooks; most of the others give very bad advice or are poor examples of how to cook. Alton is up there with Julia C., Jacque P and America's Test Kitchen.

Was watching the "Right on Q" episode Saturday and was quite surprised when Alton finally went to the butcher's shop to get his ribs and pork butt.  Butcher Dave happens to be a local chef most of us know, have eaten at his restaurants, and posted on AC at one time.  Me thinks his mother-in-law may still lurk here.
