No more Encore on Piedmont near Lindbergh.  Not sure I can count how many times that location has turned over.

One of my favorite places to eat in Atlanta, we have let Hector perform his magic many times and have never been disappointed. I'm sure we will see him again.

I hate this time of year as it seems so many restaurants close down.  I've always assumed it was a business decision to make a clean calendar year ending for tax reasons. Thoughts?

Decatur Metro is saying Carpe Diem closed after Service on the 23rd?

http://www.decaturmetro.com/2012/12/27/carpe-diem-closes/

Too bad, while I thought the food was never revolutionary, it was dependable and the patio was fantastic for lunch on a nice day.  It was also a nice place to go on a quick business lunch because it was never overly crowded (good for me, bad for them?) and relatively quiet.  Decatur is turning into a tough place for a business lunch with the loss of places like CD & Watershed.  The new openings (like 246) are simply too loud, or too fast-foodish.

Spoon Westside according to CL:
http://clatl.com/omnivore/archives/2012/12/27/daily-hash-122712-spoon-westside-to-close-black-truffle-thieves-face-paramilitary-threat-and-more

sadly this is absolutely true but not because of lack of business. Spoon is owned by 2 sisters and their brother and the sister that has been the head chef since it opened (and is responsible for all the food including those incredible desserts) is moving back to Thailand to be with her husband. we learned this when we visited a week ago as my SO knows the chef and she sat and talked with us for awhile. the brother and other sister will continue to run the Eastside location and the chef will come back from Thailand a few times a year.
I really hope that they can keep the quality up. we had several dishes last Friday including my favorite, the rack of lamb which was absolutely stellar!!!

A shame about Spoon. I wish they had continued with the Westside location instead.

Was feeling sniffly so I headed to Lee Garden - Alpharetta.  Heard they had good authentic soup.  Found it vacated.

Northlake Idol (formerly Chili's) appears to be shuttered.  I workout at the LA Fitness up there a couple of times a week and never saw many cars in the parking lot.

It's when the liquor (or business) licenses expire.

Anybody know why Rumi's Kitchen closed? Maybe I just missed it here. But AJC reported today that something called SeaBass Kitchen opened in the Rumi's spot.
