Pie Hole
« on: December 10, 2009, 12:59:58 PM »
Baked goods and sweets aren't a weakness for me or my guy, but a new spot I just found in Roswell called The Pie Hole has irresistible -- you guessed it, pies.

It's a one-woman operation opened last month in a small building off Canton Street behind Meditating Mantis.

Alayne Graham makes around 20 different types and specializes in old-fashioned Southern varieties. We've had both lemon chess and chocolate chess. OMG. Tonight I'm taking home slices of orange buttermilk and pear cranberry. We're "auditioning" pies for Christmas dinner.  ;)

There are a inside few tables set up if you want a slice and a cup of coffee.

Verra interesting. The chicks at CakesByDarcy set one hell of a bar. We loved their Turkey Day pies and cupcakes...swooooooooooooon. But I'm always open to the thought there may even be a better choice.

I may have to give up my career as a nude model.
I really wanted to like this place. I really did.

Made that same tasting buffet at Darcy's. Their carrot cake is exceptional. Alayne's pies are more like homemade if your mom was a great Southern cook.

I love the chocolate chess pie there. I'm plotting a return visit to see what else she has soon.

FYI, folks - she now has eggnog pie. And the pear-cranberry rocks it.

Yeah, I dream about that chocolate chess pie. It wasn't just the filling, it was also the crust. So many pie crusts are just an afterthought to me, just a vehicle for filling. but hers is a light, buttery compliment to the pie. I want to eat them both together, not just lick the filling off.

I think this could help me decide where in the Atlanta area to buy a house.
To be able to buy it by the slice is in incredible and when I saw the prices I nearly booked a flight.
Quickly became a Facebook fan.

As I'm sure a few of you know, Chef has now added beef and chicken pot pies. How will I keep this girlish figure? That being said, I haven't yet sampled, so I'm only hoping they are game changers too. Can anyone tell me if they even approach the bar of the sweet stuff?

Been away from Roswell for a few days and haven't tried them yet, but I suspect they are what's for dinner tomorrow.
