Our dinner with Kumar and Sashi
« on: February 09, 2010, 01:55:04 PM »

We had a wonderful dinner with our two friends in Cumming, GA on Saturday last.  This has been a long planned get-together but it was way worth it.  We have never been to our friends home before, nor met their beautiful children, so it was a treat for us to meet them at home, relax with several other guests & have home-cooked Indian food that had all of the punch we could ever expect. They served both vegetarian and meat dishes prepared with care from scratch.  Both CP and I loved every dish.  My favorites were the Chicken Briyani, and the chicken 65.

Finding offense where none is intended is a form of selfishness.

When facts change, I change my mind.  What do you do?

I'm envious.  I would love to eat in the home of an Indian family where they cooked traditional food.  Is the "mango milk shake" the same thing as a lassi?  And when it was served to you, did you ask it to confirm that Timmy fell down the well?

We had a wonderful dinner last eve with one of CP's workmates and her husband.  For us our second real Indian meal in 3 days, And our second visit to this real feast.  This time it was a generous dinner from Southern India with more rice than bread and seafood rather than goat or lamb.  Not a vegetarian meal to be sure but this couple cooks vegetarian most night for themselves.  What is always of interest to us is the order that the food "should" be eaten, this semi-buffet was laid out in that order so that we all knew which dishes were to be eaten first and so on.  It was excellent home-cooking, with good conversation and no late hours, we consider ourselves lucky.

Here is a pic and a link to the rest of the story.
