Taco Mac
« on: November 19, 2009, 11:17:57 AM »
Okay, it is pub food, but the beer list is long, and there are often fairly unusual beer offerings there.

Last night I was at the Taco Mac near Perimeter Mall with a nice loooooong table of folks from CP's workplace.  We were sending off one of my favorite co-workers of hers who is moving to Japan and starting a new marriage.

I had a couple good beerz on draught, and some fairly good fish and chips (it appeared to be real Cod).  We had good conversation even in that loud environment and had a chance to say Sayonara to our friend Erich C.

Finding offense where none is intended is a form of selfishness.

When facts change, I change my mind.  What do you do?

It's a poor craftsman that blames his tools.

If you haven't seen or heard, Taco Mac is opening in the old Frankie's spot at the Prado.  The new location will have a separate bar known as "The Fred"...

It's Offical now get drinking

I like to get the big, messy plate of nachos when I'm there. Thoroughly unhealthy, it's usually more than enough to make a meal for one or two people.

The beer list is really good as well. I haven't joined their membership club thingy, mainly because every time I go I think that I'm not likely to visit very often. And yet I keep ending up there.

Maybe I'll try the fish and chips next time.
Food is my favorite.

I met some friends at the new Taco Mac in Sandy Springs last night.  We started upstairs then made our way down to the Fred.  We walked around the side of the building, under the patio, and hit the red buzzer by the unmarked door.  Seconds later we were escorted into what could be described as the ultimate man cave reminiscent of the Highland Tap.  The bar menu has an impressive selection of top-notch beer and high-end liquor.  I ordered a Terrapin Hopsecutioner and we sampled the crab dip, fries and pickles&olives.  This is the bulk of the menu - just munchies, no meals.  (This was a disappointment since I had arrived directly from work.) The place has a loungie, cigar bar feel but we were told that the current plan is to keep it smoke-free.  Since this is the prototype Fred we may see some changes as the work-out the kinks.  Don't expect to see any ads about this place.  The idea is to keep it below the radar, like a speakeasy.  All in all it is a cool place to drink.  Luckily there are plenty of other food options in the newly, re-developed Prado.  If you're looking for a Bud and a basket of wings, go upstairs.

I've been doing a lot of solo lunches at the Taco Mac on Chastain in Kennesaw. So much so that when I come in now, they recognize me and lead me to 'my' table. Not sure I'm totally comfortable with that, but there you go. Service is always quite friendly and not intrusive.

Food is not bad. Too bad I can't drink beer during lunch.

Agreed. It's only available one day out of the week and I'm not sure why.
