any updates for this thread? I just found out that I'm headed to Oakland next month and I plan to eat well! Incanto just happens to be having their annual nose to tail dinner the night we arrive so I'm working on getting into that but any other suggestions (of any kind of food) is welcome.
Deanne and I have not been in a couple of years but still hold the city high in our esteem of interesting, wonderful, walking destinations. I have mentored a few folks on trips out there in the last few years but our/my information may be getting rusty. I know a few places have gone by the wayside since we were there, but the general rules still apply as my DIL's sister was out there a few months ago and the good places are still the good places..
General rules:
Get a several-day pass that includes all public transportation and a map. There are many foldable pocket-size maps that show all of the public transportation and stops.
Go to the Ferry building
Go to Swan Oyster Depot
Oakland is off of my personal chart
subscribe to a local food-blog or message board that has current info.
Read over the old posts/lists here they are mostly still valid.
