Is everyone here from Ohio?
No, there's a Michigander (with a brief stopover in Dayton) in the mix.

Is everyone here from Ohio?

I was born in Ohio as well, but left when I was 15 months old, so can't say I remember anything about it.

I've driven through Ohio, does that count?
There are things you do because they feel right & they make no sense & they make no money & it may be the real reason we are here: to love each other & to eat each other's cooking & say it was good.

For those of you that are from Ohio (I'm from Akron), there's a foodblog that I follow and I enjoy it pretty much, so you might like taking a look at it too. The blogger is male, slightly younger than me and living in the Akron/Canton area. His work takes him around the state a little bit, so there are some posts about Columbus and Cleveland too. I like it because I can be updated about restaurants in the areas where I used to live. Barberton chicken, Swenson's, Panini's, Vaccaro's and such all show up pretty frequently. He's a pretty good eater, apparently, so he posts very regularly. I've even sent him suggestions of things to eat - I met him on eGullet - and he often checks out my advice.

His blog is at www.exploringfoodmyway.blogspot.com

My Grandmother was born in Cleveland, and my first Cousins grew up in Toledo.  :)

Thanks for the link FG..   we may hit that Greenhouse Tavern (or we might not 'cause of the snow?), when we go to Cleveland next Saturday.

Hey - we just drove through that lake effect snow on Monday. Awful from Erie PA to Columbus OH.

And yesterday on the last leg of our return journey, we got the car washed just south of Knoxville. HATE that dirty/salty coating and am glad to be back in my adopted home!

I might move this post or parts of it later?   Today we braved the cold and went to the West Side Market in Cleveland.  It is an interesting fresh market and anyone would be proud to have it in their neighborhood, but we are spoiled in Atlanta with the several ethnic and other farmers markets.

The market is near the Great Lakes Brewery and we did stop in there, but skipped the "tour" to a later, warmer time.  The West Side Market has several places inside the market to get a sandwich or snack but except for the small restaurant attached to the market there is not a place to sit all 7 of us down for a lunch/brunch..    I did get a pretty fair, fresh walleye sandwich there and loved it.  It is late and I wont expound now on what else was ordered or how it was.

We are heading out in the late morning for the sunny skies of Georgia,  I hear it is a bit cool down there, but right now outside here the wind chill is -8 degrees, so Atlanta will feel quite balmy.

We had movie night with the kids and grandkids tonight at home, with hand-made milkshakes, popcorn, warm blankets and curling up on the couch to watch a DVD chosen by Erin (our middle grandchild).  A nice way to end the day and the trip North.  I'm ready for some short pants and my own bed.

Don't get your short pants ready just yet GG2, it is 20 here and not predicted to warm up for a while.

  Best, Liz

If we had one..   I would be moving my later posts into PUI Postings...

Long day, lot's going on, had a BIG beer too early, I may move to wine or Vodka.. ?

Damn it's cold outside...

And it looks like we need a Farking new furnace in the back-end of the house?  Just what I wanted ....

Note to self... always include a new case when I/we are updating my computer.

I hate it when stuff doesn't fit, and I'm not alone.

I HATE IT!!!!    my camera is dysfunctional....

I have taken some pics with the P&S camera but almost always hate how they turn out...

I have some kind of reader or card failure...   thank goodness I have less than 200 pics on the 4Gb card, and that card readers are not expensive.
