Happy Hogs
« on: February 22, 2014, 01:55:24 PM »
Took advantage of the nice weather Thursday. Plus a nice person in the vicinity ordered Gal Scout cookies and I was in the area of Sweet Apple Village. Got some damn good bratwurst made here in state from Happy Hogs http://www.homeofhappyhogs.com

Much less salty than most, not precooked, it is right up there. I raise my kids to be full-fledged food snobs. They come back in a hissy when chain pizza is served at a friend’s birthday party as an example.

Daughter is the biggest bratwurst fan in the world. In fact, she calls it “bratbest.” A Patak’s loyalist, she loves Happy, but not as much as Patak’s. I say it’s close, but I’m happier with the Hogs frankly. Who wants to cast the deciding vote?

I’m going to sample more of their stuff if nobody objects.

Sample away...   Welton has been a friend for a couple years as he was one of the first meat purveyors at Snellville Farmers Market.  He dropped into a couple shows at Big Green Egg as well and took the microphone to preach the salvation of pigdom and humanley raised animals. His products are above average uOTP, I have not visited the farm where his hogs are raised but I like the man.  He is a somewhat humble appearing farmer with a good nose for business.
