Town Hall Roswell - Dining Out
« on: August 14, 2013, 02:45:58 PM »
This looks like a neat town hall event featuring some well known Roswell restaurants.  Here's the link to the event:

"We are bringing in the owners and operators of some of your favorite places to dine in Roswell to discuss what it really means to dine out in Roswell, including present challenges as well as future plans as Roswell grows as a place known for good food and fun experiences. Come learn the in's and out's of running a business focused on food and customer service."

More information from http://www.newurbanroswell.com/blog/2013/8/13/town-hall-roswell-dining-out-a-roswellnext-event.html

"Our panel will include Ryan Pernice of Table & Main and the soon to be open Osteria Mattone, Marc Wegman of Adele's Authentic Cajun Cuisine, Jack Gerbilick of the Food Movement and Rich Clark of Hugo's Oyster Bar & C&S Seafood. Our moderator will be Steve Stroud of the Roswell Business Alliance.

You can expect to learn about what it's like starting a restaurant in Roswell, how Canton Street has redefined OTP dining, how food trucks are impacting business and what the best dishes in Roswell are.  Additionally, we will have some special treats on hand from some local restaurants to satisfy your appetite while you listen to all the talk about great food."

Yeah, I put this on my calendar. Hopefully I'm not busy that night.

I went to this last night. Really interesting discussion. It sounds like the city really supports their restaurant owners and intends for Roswell to be the dining destination for the region. They also talked about their love/hate relationship with bloggers like myself, which I stayed quiet during. The problem isn't that they don't like people talking about their food, but that they don't like negative amateur reviews. Which I think is a fair point. I don't like to blog about places where I've had a bad experience on the chance it was just an off night. They also talked about Alive After 5 impacts them and about the parking situation on Canton. I'm going to try to do a longer write up with my own thoughts on the blog when I get home tonight.

Here's my write up. It's long, but I think I covered the main points. http://northsidefood.blogspot.com/2013/08/dining-out-town-hall-roswell-event-by.html
