Your Dekalb Farmers Market YDFM
« on: May 07, 2012, 07:01:56 AM »

Is there a point of saturation with farmers markets?  Vendors are being pushed to their limits on our local farmers markets, and more and more permanent Farmers markets are being built or being expanded.  Here is an article about YDFM and their planned expansion. Sweet Auburn Market is also planning a 1.8 million dollar expansion and then also downtown (unless I heard this wrong), is the big market planned for the old Sears bldg on Ponce de Leon.

Except YDFM isn't a farmer's market...nor is BHFM or even Sweet Auburn. I don't know why they use the word "farmer's" in the name.

One of the mysteries of life I'm afraid.   I think we are stuck with it..

It's all marketing. Who would go to "Your Dekalb Market of Commercially Produced Produce, Groceries, and Meats."?
There are things you do because they feel right & they make no sense & they make no money & it may be the real reason we are here: to love each other & to eat each other's cooking & say it was good.

I noticed yesterday, they don't carry Boars Head cold cuts any more. They are doing more of their own meats and Koch turkey, other cold cuts are by Thurman.

A long rumored expansion is going to happen it seems..   Who else can remember when the Blazer brothers started this concept on Medlock Road off from N. Decatur Road?
