Outage
« on: July 26, 2011, 06:03:51 PM »
The hosting account for this site (and a few others) was scheduled for migration yesterday.  The transition was supposed to be seamless.  I called support this evening and they quickly discovered the problem.  For reasons unknown the DNS entry did not get updated properly after the move.

DNS is one of the easiest and the most difficult parts of the Internet. It's easy in that it's simple math - basically point-and-click type of addressing. The most difficult in that if you don't plan it out to an almost anal degree, it'll come back and bite you in the butt. The thing that still amazes me is that the Internet is so dependent on a technology from early '80s DARPA.

Goodness, you would think that the would give us/BV better scheduling so we could worry about it more often and to a greater extent, than knowing it is "it is down more"?

So that explains why I had to re-log back in on multiple machines.

Puter was in the shop last week and just got it back. Couple of small things were removed the Tech said, but nothing terrible.
Looking at Mike's F-1 postings this AM and noted something that looked like Russian language or whatever. Is that the attack stuff you are speaking of? Went back to take another look at it a few minutes ago and it was gone.
