Currently at the bar at Leon's enjoying a Bell's Double Cream Stout. Quite tasty.

I had one of those last week at Leon's and really enjoyed it.  If I remember it was 5% ABV and was reasonably light for a stout but still stood up to food very well.

Well, last night (as I hope it goes without saying), Dogfish Head's Burton Baton, an oak-aged double (Imperial) IPA.  I have really enjoyed trying all kinds of barrel-aged beers and this one is very tasty, enough hops to balance out the sweetness so it is not cloying.  10% so one bottle was plenty for me.

I think tonight's a good night to warm up that Quelque Chose that's been in the DBR for years.

I am drinking only half a bottle of the Carolus -      It is way delicious but it fills me up like it was bread.

Very tasty, nice honey and citrus flavors if you're into that:

How did you get the head on that beer?    ;D

Wow.. I bought a couple kinds of Founders beers this weekend and JUST opened a Breakfast Stout, not too bad on first sip...

It is really interesting with no head at all to speak of and a velvety chocolate taste.. This is a bit too cold right now and should improve in the next half hour.

I did get a 4-pack of Founders Double Trouble and found it REALLY hoppy.  I was told it was like my Loose Cannon, but it is, and I've only had one bottle of it, much hoppier than the Loose Cannon.  Here is what RB says about it..

that certainly looks and sounds tasty... I am NOT a purist and truly enjoy a lot of these stouts that crank up the bitter chocolate and coffee flavors.

GG, for a beer with distinct American hops I think the Loose Cannon is good, but I didn't care for the Double Trouble at all.  I don't think they really have much in common besides the fact that they're both hoppy IPAs.

I had a bottle of Cantillon 1900 Grand Cru last night, the only real, unblended lambic available in the US.  Almost completely flat and just about as tart as pure lemon juice.  It was actually pretty hard to pick out distinct flavors beyond sour and a little funk (much less funk than I expected), but it was tasty.  Not a beer that I would want to drink all the time, which at $17 for a bottle is a good thing.

Just for taste comparison, the Hop Stoopid is very close to the taste of Loose Cannon for me...

I have never had a bottle of Lambic that I really liked..    I am just not into that sour finish...
