A day in LA

I'll be roaming around LA for a day before heading down to San Diego to go to Lost Abbey and Stone.  I'd like to find some good cheap stuff that I can't really get here, whether that means some ramen or food cart or something else.  I'll be starting at the airport and eventually ending up in Venice beach, but I don't mind taking a few buses.  Any cool suggestions?

My brother (that lives in Highland, CA) sent me this link to a place he has on his wish list..   If you are there long enough, give it a try?  I saw that it got uneven reviews when it first opened, but seems to be in the top tier now ?

Ended up having some awesome ramen at Daikokuya.  It was the ramen I've always dreamed of.
