R.I.P.
« on: May 24, 2010, 07:16:16 PM »
There was a separate subject header for this on the old board, but a thread seems just fine.

I just needed to report a passing for my own therapy.  My oldest and dearest friend from high school and college died over the weekend.  He was only 46, had a loving wife and a great career.  He also neglected his health for far too long, not exercising and eating poorly until his liver failed.  He ignored the warning signs until it was too late, and now a brilliant guy with so much to offer is gone.

Enjoy life, enjoy food, but don't neglect your health.

Went to Mike's funeral this weekend (Scientist's best friend), and apparently it was a loss for so many people. He was invited to our wedding, but he decided not to come because he was embarrassed about things that led to his liver failure. I wish I could have met him in person, but I am glad that I got to meet so many of Scientist's friends.

It was great to be there for moral support for my husband, but I wish I could have done more.
Food is my favorite.

I am sorry to hear about your friend. Never underestimate how much a loving partner does for someone when they are at a loss.

'50s pop singer Eddie Fisher dies at age 82

I know he was popular before most of you were born, but he was a big hit way back then..

He did have a nice voice and several hit songs, but he may be remembered most for leaving his marriage to Debbie Reynolds to cavort with Liz Taylor. It must have seemed like a good idea at the time....

We lost Loundry off of our board yesterday and I hate it.   He was certainly a controversial poster, but he did have a way about experimentation and reviewing his experiments at home that makes him a favorite of mine.

Perhaps we will see him again some day, maybe not. ?

He didn't die, he just signed off of our board, btw..

I'm the last person to talk - I've had my own head butts here and in 'that other forum'. But it do seem that things are getting more argumentative around here again. The more things change, the more they stay the same.

I'm a relative newcomer to this board and one ofr the reasons I took so long to join was my dislike of withering commentary. But I have always enjoyed Loundry, even if I don't always agree with him, because he is knowledegeable and writes very well. More than once his turn of a phrase has had me grinning.
Isn't there room here for dissent without getting too personal?

I liked his posts, even if I disagreed with him. He made the board more interesting.
