I saw a Coming Soon sign for "Chef Pete's Cajun Cuisine" in Alpharetta/Roswell, Hwy 9 & Mansell Rd, in the center with Longhorn and The Counter.

Presumably (hopefully), this is the same Chef Pete who used to have a place in Norcross at Spalding & Holcomb Bridge and before that a little shack of a place on Winters Chapel & Peeler.

Yes, it's the place in the NW corner of the center -- it was once something like La Brasa Grill, I think.

Chef Pete has a knack for making something out of nothing, so I hope he can pull it off.

I tend to think that he props up his restaurant business with the catering side & his traveling smoker-trailers.

I managed to get them to supply my office w/ BBQ lunch a couple of times when he was operating out of Norcross.

Is that the same place that used to be in a little cement shack in front of a Winn Dixie, with signs that said "You can't beat Pete's meat" and other sayings?

Yes, I am pretty sure that's the same place.

I have been a long time fan of their pulled pork, andouille sausage and cajun beans.

Another great slogan of theirs: "You don't need teeth to eat Pete's meat!"

And a couple of different media outlets are reporting that Kevin Gillespie's oft mentioned new BBQ venture is going to occupy the onetime Brake-O shop on Piedmont Road and Piedmont Circle (around the corner from Woodfire Grill).

A friend of mine goes to school with the wife of one of the owners of Woodfire. Apparently, the BBQ venture is well in the works with plans going along nicely. She wasn't able to give me an opening date.

Chicago-style eateries have officially become the new cuisine du jour, haven't they.  As long as you don't count self-serve frozen yogurt as a cuisine.

Oy, always had them high on my list of examples on how NOT to expand. Liked them a lot when they had one location. They went up to three or four and thought they were okay at best. Then they went back down to one.

Let's hope they learned something first time around.

Talked to Joey Riley at Kalediscope (Brookhaven) last night and he said he was now shooting for a second week in November opening.
