I was at the 'infamous' Prairie Home Companion where Garrison Keilor pretty much gave up on Chastain. Not pretty.

Good lord, I am starting to regret this whole endeavor.

I'll go ahead and admit that I bought tickets just so we could see an opening act - the Tom Tom Club- who are opening for the Go Gos. Not even a Go Gos fan but we do love the Tom Tom Club. We are also going to see Elvis Costello but that is not until the middle of September, so at least things should be a litle cooler by then .

I like the Tom Tom Club, but Elvis was one of my go to's for years. I love the Wheel. One time a woman who spun it was trying to cheat to get it to land on Alison.

Gillian Welch and David Rawlings last night at the Variety.  My first time to see them in person, it was one of the best concerts I've ever seen.  NPR has a Tiny Desk concert and some Newport Music Festival clips of them, check them out if you like this kind of music.

So, what do folks do if there are thunderstorms at Chastain?

Not much room under the awnings. A couple of umbrellas/ponchos are about it. No golf umbrellas - folks get a might testy behind you. All shows are rain or shine, which usually means that the performers won't want to get their stuff wet (they'll cut the show short) but you won't get a rain check or refund. They WILL stop the show if lightning is cropping up.

Great. Forecast calls for scattered thunderstorms.

I always go to Chastain prepared to get soaked.  Last night we were spared.  Steely Dan put on a great show.

We had a great time at the last show - if you are a fan and you get a chance most definitely see the Tom Tom Club whenever you can.

Tonight is Elvis Costello. Picnic packed, wine cooled, candles ready!

BB King at the Fox Dec. 30th.
Have you ever listened to someone for a while and wondered, who ties your shoelaces?

You can't do epic shit with basic people.

Beer is why I get up every afternoon.
