Domenico's has been around since 1954, and is one of the top-rated pizzeria's on the entire West Coast.
Where the 'beautiful people' of Belmont Shores gather to be seen, either in one of the fine eateries in the 8-ish bloch 'strip' or just 'hangin' on the street.
A short mid-afternoon visit on a rainy Saturday, March 6th proved why the ratings are so high.
Although neither dollars, time, nor appetite allowed us to try a lot of their dishes, hopefully,
our choices were true examples of their great food.
First, their pizza:
we tried the Domenico's Special which has ground sausage, ground pepperoni,
ground salami, fresh mushrooms, black olives, onions, oregano, green peppers,
(anchovies on request). (ours was minus the olives, onions, bell peppers, & anchovies).
This thin crust pizza was one of the best I've EVER had.
The sausage and peperoni are (finely) ground , causing the flavors to be bold.
The aroma and melding of those two (heat from the pepperoni & salt from the sausage)meats
was tantalizing. The extremely-fresh & thinly sliced mushrooms also produced great flavor,
but added to the olfactory experience.
Next, we sampled the Cheese/pepperoni-stuffed Ravioli:
Again, the INTENSE pepperoni flavor imparted thru the grinding process STILL amazed us.
Too much meat for one day, but worth the gastronomic difficulties.
