Nice and empty on a Wednesday around noon. Mom and I had fun touring around.

Ridiculously cheap strawberries -I think around 1.69. Tons of great produce deals. Super fresh looking seafood that was so cheap (and supposedly wild-caught) that I don't know how they do it. I got a pound of very large American wild-caught shrimp for 6.99.

One weird thing - I wanted some celery root, but the ones they had were about the size of a dinner roll. Once you peel that, there can't be much left, so I skipped them.

Saveur needs to do a piece on this place. It has so eclipsed YDFM.

i find the half-sours to be a bit hit or miss.  when they are on, they are great, when they aren't i end up throwing away the entire container.  when they are off they are really fizzy...

Now that you mention it i have gotten a container that wasn't that good....

I love the regular sour pickles in the Eastern European section. Just picked up some more this afternoon.

bought a tub of the "Sour Tomatoes", these babies are insanely good.  basically they are pickled ripe red romas.

don't know. i just prefer the green ones.

the red and the green are really apples and oranges.  the green are firm and what you would expect from a pickled tomato.  The red on the other hand have almost the same texture as a regular ripe tomato, but with the sour pickled flavor.  I was planning on buying the green ones, but they didn't have any, so i got a tub of the reds.

During our weekly trip to BHFM we were roaming the center aisles, something we don't usually do because the regular canned goods there aren't so great a deal as the fresh and frozen stuff.  In the wine aisle I spied some bottles of Pinot Evil, our favorite cheap pinot and one we had been buying at Publix until they apparently stopped carrying it a few weeks ago.  No idea if they are actually making it a regular item, but we were unreasonably happy at the discovery and bought two bottles.

This place continues to be a real gem. Aside from the Pinot Evil - they could have the last bottles of a discontinued brand, or perhaps the winery is just waiting for more product to mature - we also found a new recipe for Thai green curry with chicken and pineapple, courtesy of the Blonde Thai, Philippa Kingsley. Very nice demonstration, though I didn't watch that much of it, but after trying the end result we decided to make that dinner for tomorrow.

Grapes for $1.29/lb., boneless chicken thighs for less than $1.69/lb., great produce and the bakery items just seem to keep getting better, not to mention the fresh corn tortillas. I just noticed some more neat cookware items as well. This place is quickly becoming the only grocery store I ever need to go to, were it not for the fact that I live in Marietta and sometimes need to go to Kroger or Publix for a last-minute purchase to complete dinner for that night.

I did look at the half-sours for a minute, but since I have homemade pickles in my fridge at the moment, I decided to wait until I finish those to try BHFM's version.

Morels @ $35.99/lb!  The smallest package I could find was $3.06 worth.  Nice little treat.

Chinese Southern Bell had a curry dish that tasted like dirt.  8-(  Eastern European Deli had some strange stuff in styrofoam clam shells out for samples.  8-(  People lined up on the curb afraid to get the least little bit wet.  8-(

Went their for the first time a week ago. Really liked it, got some good stuff.

However, I bought some chicken theighs at a good price, when I got home I opened the package, and their was a large fly under one of the theighs. Please tell me this is an isolated incident, I want to go to the BHFM more, but am a little hesitant.
