Title: Hatch Chiles roasted and peeled
Post by: Mike GadgetGeek Stock on August 19, 2015, 07:46:42 PM

At the Fresh Market at Briarcliff N. Druid Hills.

Seemed like not too bad of a price, more on this later, my wife just arrived with them.

I will buy way more of them at the price she got..   She only got a couple pounds..

$1.49 a pound for fresh and $1.99 a pound for roasted and peeled.   That is SUCH deal compared to ordering them online, shipping them here and roasting and peeling them that I will buy 20lbs and vacuum freeze them.

No kidding that is a DEAL.

Sprouts has had nice looking fresh ones for $1 to $1.5/lb.  Got a couple of  pounds and roasted them.
This was the first time we bothered to get fresh and roast them ourselves.

We threw a bunch of the roasted ones in with tomatillo, garlic and onion, pureed it, added some left over shredded chicken and had a wonderful quick and easy meal.
Can't wait to try some in chile and on a grilled burger.
These are addictive.

The ones I picked up for $1.49/lb were roasted (not as well as I would do them) but NOT peeled.  I have been peeling boxes of chiles for 4 hours, before I vac-bag them and freeze them.

Dammmit.

My hands are burning..

The "peeler" probably quit, understandably.

Some were not charred well enough, and were difficult to peel, when I do it the skin slips right off.  Live and learn I guess.
