Title: Price Hike
Post by: terry on April 12, 2011, 01:17:18 PM
Anyone else noticing an increase in prices across the board? I know a lot of seasonal stuff goes up and down, but over the past few months, prices have been increasing steadily.

Yes, just as have known for a long time that anything with corn, flour, white sugar, or is corn fed and cooking oils is going up.
Those state and national announcements saying don't worry be happy seem to be laced with strychnine.

Keep an eye on your paper/plastic goods also, latex has rocketed, and all petroleum based products are steadily increasing.
The more important question, well not "more" important but operationally relevant, Are you raising prices to counter the increase in costs?  If so are you raising across the board or selectively?  And finally, by what percentage are you increasing?

At the end of last year, as I saw this coming, I asked my main line purveyor if he had heard anything in meetings about what they expected to see this year as far as price increase was concerned and he said that 3% was being projected, but I believe we have already seen 3%, about a month ago, and expect to see 7-10%!

Yes, have had to raise prices on boxed lunches and dinners because of packaging costs.  By about 8%.

Heard y'all were selling out of bottled water - price hikes have no affect on thirsty flowergazers...
